City Under the Sea (also known as War-Gods of the Deep in the US) is a 1965 British-American film that blends adventure, horror, and science fiction. Directed by the legendary Jacques Tourneur in his final film, it stars Vincent Price, Tab Hunter, Susan Hart, and David Tomlinson. The story follows American mining engineer Ben Harris as he discovers a hidden city beneath the sea off the coast of Cornwall. This lost city, built by a mysterious ancient race, is inhabited by a group of smugglers led by a cruel and tyrannical captain. But as the city's powers begin to falter, the captain's desperate actions may lead to the destruction of all. With references to Edgar Allan Poe's "The City in the Sea" and H.P. Lovecraft's "The Shadow over Innsmouth", this film is a gripping tale of survival and betrayal.
