SYNOPSIS

All aboard for a spectacular musical adventure filled with unforgettable songs, romance, laughter and the excitement of the Old West!

Judy Garland stars in this glorious MGM Technicolor musical, a delightful combination of sparkling comedy, spectacular dance routines and heartwarming romance set against the colourful backdrop of America's Wild West.

The year is 1890, and a trainload of spirited young women is heading west to the bustling frontier town of Sandrock, New Mexico. They are the Harvey Girls, determined to bring good food, respectable service and a touch of civilisation to the rough-and-ready railway towns of the American frontier.

Travelling alongside them is the charming Susan Bradley (Judy Garland), a hopeful young woman journeying west to marry a man she has fallen in love with through a series of romantic letters. But when she finally meets her intended husband, Susan discovers that things are not quite what they seem!

Determined to make a fresh start, Susan joins the Harvey Girls and soon finds herself in a spirited battle with handsome saloon owner Ned Trent (John Hodiak), whose establishment faces competition from the newly opened Harvey House restaurant.

As romance blossoms between Susan and Ned, trouble brews when the saloon's scheming associates attempt to drive the Harvey Girls out of town. With jealous rivals, outrageous misunderstandings, dangerous confrontations and plenty of romantic complications, Susan and her friends must prove they have what it takes to survive in the Wild West.

Featuring a magnificent supporting cast including Ray Bolger, Angela Lansbury, Virginia O'Brien and Marjorie Main, The Harvey Girls is packed with delightful performances, dazzling costumes, spectacular musical numbers and unforgettable entertainment.

The film features the Academy Award-winning song "On the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe", one of the most celebrated musical numbers in Hollywood history.

Directed by George Sidney and produced by MGM's legendary Arthur Freed, this much-loved musical remains a shining example of Hollywood's Golden Age.

A wonderful celebration of music, romance and adventure — with Judy Garland at her dazzling best!
