Following the death of his domineering, fanatically religious mother, lonely farmhand Ezra Cobb is left isolated on the family farm. Tormented by the harsh beliefs she instilled in him since childhood, Ezra begins hearing her voice from beyond the grave. Driven by grief and madness, he exhumes her decaying body and brings it home, attempting to restore it using whatever materials he can find.

As his grip on reality deteriorates, Ezra becomes convinced that he and his “mother” need company. Soon he begins robbing graves, assembling a grotesque household of the dead. When his encounter with eccentric psychic Maureen Selby ends in murder, it marks the beginning of a terrifying killing spree.

Unsuspecting locals—including a young waitress and a teenage girl—fall prey to Ezra’s growing insanity as he retreats deeper into his horrifying world inside the farmhouse. But when the townspeople finally uncover the truth about the gruesome activities on the Cobb farm, they take justice into their own hands—bringing Ezra’s nightmare to a shocking and fiery conclusion.
