Synopsis

She's loud, outrageous and impossible to ignore. He's quiet, intellectual and desperate for a little peace. Together, they're a romantic disaster waiting to happen!

Barbra Streisand and George Segal star in this hilarious, unconventional romantic comedy about two complete opposites who discover that love has a funny way of bringing people together.

Felix Sherman (George Segal) is a mild-mannered bookstore clerk and aspiring novelist who enjoys nothing more than peace, quiet and intellectual conversation. Doris (Barbra Streisand) is his outspoken, unpredictable neighbour, a struggling actress and part-time call girl whose colourful lifestyle is anything but peaceful.

When Felix inadvertently gets Doris evicted from her apartment, she storms into his life and refuses to leave. What follows is a riotous series of arguments, outrageous misunderstandings, disastrous encounters and unexpected romantic complications as the unlikely pair are thrown together on the streets of New York.

Despite their constant bickering and wildly different personalities, an irresistible attraction begins to develop. But can a straight-laced intellectual and a free-spirited woman overcome their differences and find true love?

Featuring sparkling performances, razor-sharp dialogue and wonderful comic chemistry between Streisand and Segal, The Owl and the Pussycat is a delightfully irreverent romantic comedy that perfectly captures the changing attitudes and liberated spirit of the early 1970s.

Two complete opposites. One outrageous romance. And a whole lot of laughs!
