Nineteen-year-old Bernard Chanticleer (Peter Kastner) has spent his sheltered life under the watchful eyes of his overprotective mother and demanding father. When he's finally pushed out of the family home and into a Manhattan boarding house, Bernard believes adulthood—and romance—await him.

Instead, he finds himself stumbling through a hilarious series of misadventures involving eccentric landlords, an aggressive pet rooster, overbearing parents, unrequited love and the glamorous but emotionally troubled actress Barbara Darling (Elizabeth Hartman). While Bernard dreams of winning Barbara's heart, he fails to notice that his loyal childhood friend Amy Partlett (Karen Black) may be the person he's been searching for all along.

Directed by Francis Ford Coppola in his first major Hollywood production, You're a Big Boy Now is a stylish, energetic comedy bursting with 1960s pop culture, memorable performances and sharp satire.
